ABOUT US

As you read the “About Us” page, you’ll know a good bit about the way we worship. While this is an important part of what we do, we are only in worship or Bible class together around 3-4 hours a week. So what do we do with the other 164 hours in a week and how do we live? Well, let us start by letting you know that we are not perfect. We firmly believe that we are only able to be saved because of the grace which God has offered to sinners. Having said that, we also like to remember what Paul said in Romans right after talking about the need for God’s grace. He said in Romans 6:1-2 “What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?” We don’t believe the things we believe because they are easy, hard, or somewhere in between. We believe these things because they are found in God’s words for us. The Church of Christ has no human creed or bylaws. We simple follow Biblical instruction. This is why the New Concord Church of Christ is not a denomination, but rather simply a Church of our Lord.

Here are a few things that the Bible teaches:

  • Salvation is accessed from Faith, Repentance, Confession, and Baptism. While God’s grace is powerful, the Bible is clear that a person must take certain steps to access that grace. When teaching the first gospel sermon (Acts 2), Peter was questioned by the very people who crucified Jesus. The Bible says they were cut to the heart and asked “brothers what do we need to do?” Peter responded, “Repent and be baptized everyone one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.” We believe baptism is essential for salvation.

  • Where the Bible speaks, we are to speak boldly. Where the bible is silent, we are to be silent as well: 2Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that all scripture is God breathed and that it is what the man of God perfect and thoroughly furnished for good works. New Testament Christianity – Nothing more Nothing less.
